Photo of the moment: A whole lotta Paris.

One year ago this month, my husband and I were in Paris celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was an amazing trip that changed my life in that it inspired me to think about living somewhere else.

I’m not going to put the settings on each image because I want to share so many of them with you. They were all shot with the Canon 5d and most all of them with my 24-70 2.8L lens.

I’m in a hipstamatic phase. It’s going to last a while.

I’ve recently discovered the joys of using the hipstamatic camera on my itouch. In some ways it can be frustrating because you have a lot less control over the composition of the image since you can’t see everything that will be included in the shot. But in other ways it’s very freeing and has renewed a love of photography that has been dulled by years of doing it professionally. This is pure love and creativity. I pull it out and shoot all the time. I don’t have to do any work in photoshop and I can immediately see it and share it with family and friends. And sometimes, like below, even though I didn’t get everything in the shot that I wanted to, it is still an amazing picture that captures the moment perfectly.

I saw this wall on vacation last summer in Chicago and loved it.

Shot with a canon 20D with a Tamron 28-70 lens at a focal length of 32mm.

ISO 3200

Aperture f/8

Shutter Speed 1/4000

To critique my own shot, this is what happens to me when I’m in vacation mode. Often I don’t think much about my settings and I just shoot. So that is why in broad daylight I shot at 3200 ISO which is why the shutter speed is so high and the aperture is so closed. But it all worked out and that’s all that matters.

I couldn’t post just one of these images. These were taken almost 3 years ago. My husband had been out of town for days. My 1 year old was in bed and after looking in the fridge my 3 and 4 1/2 year olds asked if they could have noodles and “finger whip” for dinner.  Uh, sure! At least I had to energy to pull out my camera to take a few pictures.
